~Jamestown Visitor's Center, Jamestown, VA ~ Susan Constant, Godspeed, and the Discovery
The history of Jamestown Island
has an important connection with Jamestown Christian Fellowship. The
pastors of the church, Wade and Lisa Trump, have family heritage that
date back to the original settlers. As early as 1611 and no later than
1616, John Johnson, like many others, came to Jamestown
in hopes of starting a new beginning. He was known as a "Yeoman and
ancient planter". John was given a patent from Governor Sir George
Yeardly and Captain Sir Francis Wyatt for 100 acres of land divided out
into two parcels. The first parcel was a 15 acre plot near the eastern
end of Jamestown Island
and the second was an 85 acre plot at Jockey's Neck, west of Archer's
Hope, now known as College Creek. The grant was given to him after
serving the Virginia Company for seven years. Jamestown Christian
Fellowships hopes to build a church as close as possible to the
Jamestown Visitor's Center and establish a Christian History Museum that will exhibit the faith and work of our Christian forefathers in establishing America as a Christian nation.
